Around 2005, after having blown out several accounts and after several demoralizing losses, it became clear that knowledge of the markets alone could not ensure success in the financial markets. I would go on streaks where I would profit on literally dozens upon dozens of trades in a row and then lose everything I had earned in two or three trades. I wasn’t using proper money management strategies and was trading emotionally, rather than with a trader’s mindset. I vowed to learn all I could on these more intangible aspects of trading financial markets and got a mentor who showed me how to trade with a business mindset rather than as a gambler. I started to implement these more disciplined systems and started to turn consistent profits for the first time in my trading career
